2016 Update on US/Japan Relations

Join us for the Japan-America Society of North Carolina's first ever Annual Conference!  As the 37th chapter of the National Association of Japan-American Societies, we are honored to present this momentous occasion to you with our keynote speakers.  The event will be hosted by JASNC and is generously supported in part by JP Morgan Chase, Williams Mullen, CBC America, Cherry Bekaert and The NC Biotech Center.

  • Ms. Irene Hirano Inoue, President of the US-Japan Council - Japan Council, US-Japan Relations and the Tomodachi Initiative

  • Mr. Peter Kelley, President of the National Association of the Japan-America Societies - 2016 Update on the National Association of Japan-America Societies

  • Dr. Morgan Pitelka, Director of the Carolina Asia Center at UNC-Chapel Hill and Former Director for the Triangle Center for Japanese Studies - North Carolina Japan Studies and Education Exchange Programs

  • Mr. David Robinson, Honorary Consul General of Japan in North Carolina - Opening Remarks

  • Mr. Takashi Shinozuka, Consul General of Japan in Atlanta and David Robinson, Honorary Consul General of Japan in North Carolina - Opening Remarks

Registration will commence at 12pm with the conference starting promptly at 1pm. The conference will conclude at 4:30pm. The program will begin immediately following registration, and last until 4:30 pm.  Afterwards, we will be hosting a reception at the Nature Exploration Center (NEC), NC Museum of Natural Sciences on the 2nd floor located at 11 West Jones Street, Raleigh, NC.  Admission for the reception is free.  

NOTES:

  • All admission fees should be paid in advance.

  • The RSVP deadline for the program and reception is Wednesday, April 20th.  Seating is limited, so please reserve early.

  • The reception will begin at 5:30 pm and end at 7:00 pm.

  • Parking for the conference will be free.

  • Parking for the reception will be available at a near by surface parking lot one block from the musuem. Entrances to the lot can be found on Jones and Edenton Streets.  The parking rate is $2/hour, but payment will not be required provided you depart the lot after 6:30 pm.  

  • A special membership promotion is available.  $30 will include admission for the program + 1 year individual membership (Individual membership fee is $30).
