The announcement of significant new investment in Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC), together with other EV related announcements, emphasizes the growing importance of the automotive industry to North Carolina. The southerly migration of the automotive industry from the traditional Midwest heartland has the potential to be the engine of broader growth in the region. At the same time many automotive industry players are becoming concerned at the speed and level of consumer adoption of EV’s. Could EV automotive growth plans be affected and what might be the “knock-on” effects to overall economic growth plans?
During the seminar, Plante Moran’s Mobility Experts, Mark Barrott and Doug Hockenbrocht, will help you understand the industry outlook, how other regions are responding to the implications of the EV growth and slowdown, together with how your business strategy, operations, production, supplier management and digital/IT strategies may need to react and respond to an uncertain outlook. They will discuss specific implications related to Japanese OEM’s and the supply base. You will gain strategic intelligence and insights to help you refine your strategy, avoid risk, and find opportunities across the supply chain.
In addition, Dr. Anthony Bombik, Assistant Professor Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science of UNC Charlotte, will speak about the innovative changes in battery technology that are on the horizon and how they may impact the industry. Following the seminar, Mr. Barrott, Mr. Hockenbrocht, and Dr. Bombik will be joined by Jon Callies, President of DENSO, to form a panel to discuss their views on the implications of the battery plant investment.
