2017 Annual JASNC Conference

 "Future Directions in US-Japan Relations"

Join us for the Japan-America Society of North Carolina's Annual Conference!  The conference will be hosted by JASNC.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our presenters will include a group of seasoned professionals including:

Conference Speakers:

  • Mr. Yasushi Takahashi, Keynote Speaker, President & CEO of Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc.

  • Mr. David Boone, Rear Admiral Civil Engineers Corps United States Navy (Retired) and President of CB&I Federal Services

  • Dr. Jay H. Bryson, Managing Director and Global Economist at Wells Fargo Securities, LLC, Research Division

  • Mr. Carl Goodman, Adjunct Professor of Japan / United States Comparative Law at Georgetown University Law Center

Reception speaker:  

  • Dr. John Carpenter, The Three Perfections of Japanese Art: Painting, Poetry, and Calligraphy - Masterworks from the Mary Griggs Burke Collection the Mary Griggs Burke Curator of Japanese Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York

Registration will commence at 12pm with the conference starting promptly at 1pm. The conference will conclude at 5:00pm. Afterwards, we will be hosting a reception at the Ackland Art Museum, the University of North Carolina (UNC), Chapel Hill Campass located at 101 S. Columbia Street, Chapel Hill, North Carolina from 6:00 to 9:00pm.   Admission include the conference and reception.

                                                   1:00 - 5: 00pm -  Conference

                                                   6: 00 - 9:00pm - Reception

 

  • Where: Conference - The North Carolina Biotech Center

                Reception -   the Ackland Art Museum, University of North Carolina

                                       101 S. Columbia Street, Chapel Hill, NC

  • Admission for Conference & Reception: Members - $10, Non Member Students - $10 or $20 for admission + One year student membership, Non-members - $20 or $30 for admission + One year individual membership

NOTES:

  • All admission fees should be paid in advance.

  • The RSVP deadline for the program and reception is Wednesday, April 19th.  Seating is limited, so please reserve early.

  • The reception will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm.

  • Parking for the conference will be free.

  • Complementary bus transportation will be provided between the NC Biotech Center and the Ackland Art Museum. For those wishing to drive to the Ackland Art Museum, free parking be provide on the UNC campus.  

  • A special membership promotion is available.  $30 will include admission for the conference and reception + 1 year individual membership (Individual membership fee is $30).
